Albania

The red flag of Albania  with a black two-headed eagle in the center has been used since 1912. The state flag symbolizes the successful uprising against the Turks in the 15th century under the leadership of George Castriota Skanderbeg. Albanians see themselves as descendants of the eagle "Shkypetars" - "sons of the eagle".
