Bolivia

The inhabitants of the territory of present-day Bolivia gained independence from Spain in 1825 under the leadership of Simon Bolivar. They chose his as its first president, and they called their country Bolivia in honor of the great heroes of South American struggle for independence. The flag has the form of three equal horizontal bands, red symbolizes bravery of Bolivian soldiers and wildlife, yellow represents mineral wealth of the country and green for fertility of the land.
