China introduced a new flag in 1949, as a state symbol of the People's Republic of China. Red and yellow are traditional Chinese colors and red is also the color of communism. One big yellow star is a symbol of the leading role of the Communist Party in the Chinese society. Four small yellow stars on the flag represent  four Chinese social groups of peasants, workers, petty bourgeoisie and the part of capitalists, who took part in the revolutionary events.
