Dominica

The flag of Dominica has been used since 1978, when Dominica gained independence from Great Britain. The national bird Sisserou parrot is a symbol of Dominica. 10 stars represent the 10 parishes of the island. The red disc in the center of the flag symbolizes social orientation, green represents vegetation and the cross is a symbol of Christianity. Three colors of the cross symbolize the Holy Trinity. Black represents the people of African descent, yellow native Caribien Indians and white means rivers, waterfalls, peace and the purity.
