Ethiopia

Ethiopia is the oldest independent country in Africa. Three colors of this flag green, yellow and red were so often adopted by other African countries upon independence that they became known as the Pan-African colors. The green band represents hope and the fertility of the country. Yellow symbolizes justice and harmony. Red means sacrifice and heroism in defending the country. Blue disc symbolizes peace and the pentagram represents the unity and equality of nationalities and peoples of Ethiopia.
