Germany

The German flag has a form of three horizontal bands. Black, red and gold are the colors of the historical period of the Holy Roman Empire. Other springs argue that, this tricolor is derived from the colors uniforms Lutz student volunteer corps from the time of the Napoleonic wars.  This flag was officially introduced by Germans in 1919 after the establishment of the Republic. After the defeat of fascism in 1949, two German States used the same flag. GDR added later  a socialist emblem on the flag. In 1990 Germany was unified under a common flag.
