Jordan

The flag of Jordan is derived from the flag of the Arab revolt used by Arab nationalists during the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Empire in World War I. Three horizontal bands represent three strains, which led Arab revolt against the Turks in the 1917. Black represents Abbassid the Caliphate, white represents Ummayyad the Caliphate and green represents the Fatimid Caliphate. The red wedge on the flag represents the dynasty of King Hussein of Jordan. The white star represents the first seven verses of the Holy Koran, faith in One God, humanity, national spirit, humility, social justice, virtue, and aspirations.
