Macedonia

On 11 August 1992, the newly independent Republic of Macedonia adopted a new red flag with yellow Vergina Sun. Greece officially protested and did not agree with the placement of Vergina Sun on the flag, because this character is on the tomb of Philip of Macedon, father of Alexander the Great. Macedonia have adopted this flag in 1995. Yellow and red are the traditional Macedonian colors.
