North Korea

After World War II, Korea was divided into North Korea and South Korea. The flag of North Korea (officially the Democratic People's Republic of Korea) was adopted on 8 September 1948. The red band symbolizes the revolutionary tradition, white stripes represent purity, strength and dignity. The blue bands represent the sovereignty, peace and friendship. The red star in a white circle symbolizes socialism.
