Iran

The Iranian flag with three horizontal bands of green, white and red dates from 1911. The red emblem in the center of the flag and the white text Allah Akbar ( God is Great) on  the green and red band were added to the flag in 1980. The emblem with a sword between two pairs Crescent symbolyzuje Islam. Green represents Islam and growth, white symbolizes honesty and peace, red represents heroism and martyrdom.
