Chad

Chad achieved independence from France in 1960. The flag of Chad with three equal vertical bands of blue (hoist side), yellow and red was created by combining of the French tricolor and the colors of Pan-African unity. Blue represents the tropical sky, water and hope. Yellow represents the sun and the desert. Red is the symbol of sacrifice for freedom and bloodshed.
